About
Who publishes these notes
m5online publishes this site. The address and the email addresses are on every page so it is clear who is behind the text.
Why the site exists
When someone looks for information about a road, a tunnel or a bridge in Ireland, they find pages that mix the information with a price, a booking form or some other service. These notes were written as reading material only. The notice stays at the top of every page: no tickets, tours, tolls or any other service are sold here.
The site is in English, which is the language of publication. It uses the terms heard in context: motorway, junction, tunnel, hard shoulder, toll, cable-stayed bridge. Where the material concerns traffic regulation or public roads, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is cited as the authority that publishes information about the national network.
What is not published
There is no fictional author, review, award or certificate on the site. The author is the organisation m5online, not a person invented for the page. Words such as “official”, “guaranteed” or “best” are not used, because those claims cannot be supported on an information site. The reader is not sent to another domain through an affiliate link or a product recommendation.
In particular, no prices, current tolls, opening times or payment deadlines are stated. Those change with the scheme and the day, and they are published by the authority or the operator.
Photographs
The photographs on the site are stored locally under images/photos/
as JPEG files. They are not the places being written about: they show the kind of road,
tunnel or bridge described, not a specific site.
- Files: 1600 pixels wide, with an 800-pixel version for small screens.
- Format: JPEG, reasonably compressed, with
srcsetandsizes. - Delivery: all files are on the same server; no image is loaded from another domain.
Corrections
If you see an error, send the page and the sentence to [email protected]. The date on the page is updated when the text is changed, not when a small spelling mistake is fixed.
What you get here
Three things that are useful before you need them: a clear reading of the motorway network, an understanding of how barrier-free tolling works, and a realistic estimate of the time a coastal road takes. None of them replaces the signs on the ground or the information published by TII and the local councils.
